OmniPage 16 Service Pack 1
Information:
This document contains information about ScanSoft OmniPage 16 Service Pack 1.
This update is available for download through the ScanSoft Update Service. The ScanSoft Update Service is an automatic update service included with OmniPage 16. To open the ScanSoft Update Service, do the following:
- Launch OmniPage 16.
- Click on "Help > Nuance on the Web > Get Latest
Update".
- When the Update Service opens, click "Show Updates"
then click "Add" on any of the available Service Pack(s) as desired.
- Click the "Next" button and then use the "Download"
button to save the Service Pack(s) to the computer.
- Once downloaded, double-click the Service Pack to install them (one at a time). Please be sure to close out of all open applications before installing the Service Pack(s), except the service pack download.
Note: If the "Install Now" button is used instead of the "Download" button, a message may appear stating that all open applications should be closed before continuing the installation. All applications can be closed except for the "Update Service" Internet Explorer Window. The Service Pack(s) can be successfully installed with this window open by pressing the "Ignore" button, however all other applications including OmniPage 16 must be closed.
The OmniPage 16 installation CD is required to install the Service Pack(s).
If OmniPage 16 was downloaded from our Online Store (Digital River), the full download is required to install the Service Pack(s).
Please extract the OmniPage 16 download to a folder on the computer.
When the installation of the Service Pack(s) ask for the OmniPage 16 CD, click the "Browse" button and select the folder in which the extracted OmniPage 16 download is located. Click "OK" and the installation should proceed without a problem.

- After installing the Service Pack, the following will appear in the "Help > About OmniPage 16" dialog:
OmniPage Version 16.1
Product ID: [Product ID number], Service Pack 1
Note: It may be possible to install the Service Pack a second time, even though it is already installed.
- After installing the Point Release build (full build), the following will appear in the "Help > About OmniPage 16" dialog:
OmniPage Version 16.1
Product ID: [product ID number]
- It is important to ensure that OmniPage and the OmniPage Agent are not running when installing the OmniPage 16 Service Pack.
- Press "CTRL + ALT + Delete" and open the Windows Task Manager.
- Click the "Processes" tab.
- Sort the processes alphabetically by clicking "Image Name".
- Look for the following processes:
- OmniPage.exe
- OmniPage16.exe
- OPAgent.exe
- If any of these processes are running, highlight the process and then click the "End Task" button.
Note: If the Batch Manager was running when the process was ended, existing jobs will need to be restarted.

In addition to the items listed above, the following issues have also been resolved in the Service Pack:
New file formats:
- The conversion tools for creating XLSX and PPTX formats have been updated.
Direct OCR:
- When using the Direct OCR feature, it is now possible to add custom words to custom dictionaries when reviewing documents with the proof reader.
- Multiple files can now be loaded when using Direct OCR.
Text Editor:
- When using OmniPage 16 it is now possible to drag/drop and copy/paste text in the Text Editor.
Output/Export/Save:
- When using the "Text - Formatted" output format with True Page selected, the entire document will be retained.
- When using OmniPage 16, the File-it Assistant will no longer revert back to the "RTF Word 2000" output format. The File-It Assistant will export to the specified format.
Redaction:
- Redacted text will be displayed properly (as black blocks) when outputting to XPS format.
- Redacting words that exist on two lines, connected with a hyphen, will properly redact after installing the Service Pack.
- Redacted text at the end of a line will now display properly as redacted after exporting to PDF Edited format.
Sharepoint:
- When loading files from SharePoint, the user is no longer required to enter their login information multiple times.
FTP:
- The load from FTP step will function in a workflow if prompting is selected.
- OmniPage 16 will store the user name and password information for the "Save to FTP" step when creating a new workflow.
- The Browse option is enabled when loading from an FTP site while configuring the workflow assistant.
Outlook/email:
- Microsoft Outlook should no longer display a message that the folder cannot be opened after running a mailbox watching job.
- The new mail message dialog box will appear when sending mail via Outlook Express when auto-send is disabled.
Workflows:
- OmniPage 16 will now allow the save as option in Mailbox Watching jobs to be changed to Text after running the job.
- The Send in Mail workflow step will allow multiple recipients to be emailed in the same workflow.
- OmniPage 16 should no longer return a JobRunner error when a workflow containing the "Correct Recognition Results" step is used.
- OmniPage 16 will properly execute workflows that include both the Mark Text and Proofing (Correct Recognition Results) steps in the same workflow.
- The workflow options on the Results bar are selectable with the use of Tab button or hotkeys.
Zoning:
- If OmniPage closes unexpectedly without completing the recognition, after launching OmniPage and recovering the document, the prior zoning content will be retained.
Miscellaneous:
- When using the right-click context sensitive menu to convert a PDF file, the OmniPage 16 Menu will appear when PDF Professional 4 is installed.
- After changing the Security/Password settings of a PDF export converter, the settings will be retained after closing and reopening OmniPage.
- When configuring the "Form Extraction" options, the following message should no longer appear when properly selecting the PDF form template: "You must specify a PDF form template file".
- When opening a larger OPD file, a progress indicator will properly display the status until completed.
- When using the Manual Zoning options in conjunction with Direct OCR, the Windows Character map is accessible and functions properly.
- 3D Deskew settings will be retained properly when creating a custom Enhancement Template.
- The appropriate RealSpeak (Text-to-Speech) voice will match the UI (User Interface) language selected [when available].
- When configuring a Workflow to process password protected PDF files, the password is retained and the workflow will no longer prompt to enter the password additional times.
