In addition to the items listed above, the following issues have also been resolved in the Service Pack:

New Features in PaperPort 10.1:

  • An option to set a specific startup folder has been added under “Tools > Options > General”.
  • Recent folders can now be found under "View > Go To" as well as on the back button menu.
  • When creating a new PaperPort document from "New > PaperPort Image Item…", the creator of the document in the files properties will reflect "PaperPort 10.0" rather then the Windows username.
  • When printing from PaperPort to the PDF Create! printer driver, the settings on the PDF Create printer! should be the settings used during the print operation.
  • PaperPort now recognizes the DPI and Bit Depth for PDF files created by PaperPort. This information is stored in the file itself allowing PaperPort to use this information for PDF capabilities. PaperPort will still use the set PDF Rendering resolution for PDF files created outside of PaperPort.
  • PaperPort will now create a link to Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0.
  • Improved performance of PaperPort when launching and changing folders. This was done by adding a feature to "Delete 'View Text' Cache". This cache stores text data extracted during the indexing process from image files so that the "View Text" button on the "Item Properties" dialog produces the extracted text immediately. Please see Technote 5011 for more information on this new feature.
  • Increased options for the "Stack Items" button. In PaperPort 10, selecting two files and using the "Stack Items" button would make a copy of both the files and create a new stacked document. A new option: "Stack button performs 'Stack into PDF'"; added to "Tools > Options… > General" tab allows for a stack to take place without creating a copy of the files first.

All-in-One Search:

  • After a file has been indexed and searched upon, using the "View Text" button to show all findings, will now show all results in the document, not just the results of the first few pages.
  • When viewing the text of an indexed file with the "View Text" button, the button "Go to page" should only appear on the search results pane.
  • Further improvements were made to the handling of the "View Text" button for text based items.
  • Improved performance of the auto-indexing feature.
  • The Index Manager task will only load once the Index Manager is running. This will prevent the Index Manager from loading into the System Tray until it is needed.

FormTyper:

  • Improved handling of filenames when printing forms with the ScanSoft Black and White printer driver.

Links:

  • The OmniPage 14 workflow link should now display non-English workflows.
  • When sending a Rich Text Format (.rtf) file from PaperPort to the Outlook link, with the conversion set to "PaperPort Image (*.max)", the file name should now be the full length rather than being truncated to the 8.3 format.

Other:

  • Highlight annotations no longer move after the document has been opened and closed a number of times.
  • Improved interactions between Windows Explorer and PaperPort when copying and pasting files.
  • The related help content is displayed on the right part of the Help window and the related help topic is now selected on the left part of the Help window (in the tree view).
  • Improved handling of bookmarks when a bookmarked folder is moved or deleted.
  • When opening a Microsoft Word or Excel file from the PaperPort Desktop and then saving the file, the thumbnail is no longer moved to the bottom of the Desktop, but rather kept in the current location.
  • Improved handling when printing "PaperPort Browser-Viewable file(*.htm)" files.
  • Improved handling of PaperPort's Desktop and PageViewer to better handle processes that require a refresh operation.
  • Improved handling of error messages when logged onto the workstation with limited/restricted permissions.
  • Improved handling of page names during cut and paste operations for multi-page files.
  • When viewing the "Properties" Pane with a PaperPort Image file (.max), the page size should be viewable.
  • Improved handling of the "Tools > Find Next" option.
  • The warning message "The specified path is invalid." Should no longer appear when viewing the properties of some .pdf and .max files.

PageViewer:

  • Improved handling of multiple external PageViewer processes when used at the same time.
  • When adding special characters to text annotations on PDF files within PageViewer, the special characters should now be retained when opening the file in Acrobat.
  • PaperPort now attaches "(Read Only)" to the filename of files that have read only permissions or when multiple copies of the same file are open in PageView and PageViewer.
  • Improved handling of multipage files with regard to the use of SET tools.
  • When using the "Save As" option in PageViewer and saving to the same file name as the file that is open, the page thumbnails should no longer disappear.
  • Improved handling of images on a write-protected drive when trying to reduce the size of the thumbnails.
  • Improved handling of the "Next Desktop Item" button.
  • When saving a PaperPort Image file (.max) as a different name using the "Save as" option, PaperPort should no longer crash.
  • Improved handling of the thumbnail pane after a resize of the pane.

PDF:

  • More descriptive error/warning messages when working with PDF Security.
  • Improved handling of PDF files created with 3rd party software.
  • Improved functionality with the option "Print to PaperPort (PDF)" under the file menu for Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Improved handling of generating page names for password protected PDF files.
  • Copying pages from a multi-page PDF file should now create a new PDF file with the original page names.
  • Improved handling of annotations on PDF files.
  • The SET tool "Auto-Straighten" can be used on Black and White PDF Image files.
  • Rendering speeds have been increased for PDF files created by PaperPort.
  • Improved printing speeds of PDF Searchable files.

Scanner Setup Wizard:

  • Running the Scanner Setup Wizard and testing the scanner will result in a dialog where only the Basic scan test is selected. This is the recommended test to perform. If other tests (Color, Gray, etc.) are preferred, please un-check "Basic scan test" and proceed to check off the desired tests.
