After selecting the appropriate Nuance Product Family to enter the Knowledgebase, the following Search options are available:
Top 5 TechNotes
The Top 5 TechNote list provides easy access to the TechNotes that are accessed most frequently. This list is specific to product and is determined by the number of times the TechNote was selected.
Product Version
Select the appropriate Nuance Product Family from the list. The version is a subset of the Product Family. The Knowledge Base articles are sorted by Product Family and the entire Product Family can be searched upon by selecting "Any Version".
Search Criteria
Type the words that would be expected to be found in the pages that contain the answer.
Do not use noise words such as how, why, the, in or on.
Use words that describe the problem or exact error message.
The search has three possible choices:Any of the words, All of the words, Exact Phrase.
Enter the desired options and then click the search button to begin searching.
Quick Definitions
TechNotes or TIB (Technical Information Bulletin) are the individual articles within the Knowledge Base.
Any of the words Shows pages that contain any of the words. This is similar to including an "or" in-between the words entered.
All of the words Shows pages that contain all of the words. This is similar to including an "and" in-between the words entered.
Exact phrase entered Shows pages that contain all of the words, in the exact order typed.
If searching brings up a large amount of data, the search can be refined by using the advanced options below. If the
search is unable to determine the specific topic for the problem, try using the Categories provided.
Product Version
Select the appropriate Nuance product version from the list. The product version is a subset of the Product Family.
The Knowledge Base articles are sorted by Product Family and the entire Product Family can be searched by selecting
"Any Version".
Product Category
Select the appropriate category from the list. The categories are provided to add an additional searching method to
help refine or filter the search. Selecting a Category and a Product version will only find TechNotes within that
specific Category and Product version.
Search Criteria
Type the words that would be expected to be found in the pages that contain the answer. Do not use noise words such as how, why, the, in or on. Use words that describe the problem or exact error message. The search is based on the exact phrase entered. Enter the desired options and then click the search button to begin searching.
Using
Select the appropriate search type from the list. These search types are used to refine
the search results by using "or", "and", or "exact phrase" search criteria.
Search Type
The following options can be set:
Full Text (default) Searches both the title and the text of the TechNote.
Title Only Searches only the title of the TechNote.
Body Only Searches only the body of the TechNote.
Date Range
Allows searching for recently published or modified TechNote articles. Select Anytime for all published articles.
Display
Select the number of TechNote articles to display per page.
TechNote Number
Searches only the TechNote identification number (for example, 1908).
Search Tips
When searching on a TechNote number, selecting a Product version or category is not necessary.
The TechNote number search searches all TechNotes in all of the Product Families in the entire Nuance Knowledge Base.
Text Search and Category Search are based on Product Family and will only display TechNotes within a family.
Boolean search parameters are not supported.
How to Search for a Knowledge Base TechNote by Number
In the Search Criteria box, type the Knowledge Base TechNote number (for example, type 1908). In the Advanced Search options, type the Knowledge Base TechNote number, without selecting Product version or category, then click the search button to begin searching.
How to Search for Downloads
If the name of the file to be downloaded is known, type the name in the Search Criteria box or click Downloads on the Support Menu to search for files to be downloaded.
